Congratulations to the BMHS Bands

On December 1, 2007, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble all participated in the Washington Archdiocesan Music Teacher's Council Band Festival. The event was held at Flowers High School in Springdale Maryland. Bands from DeMatha, Seton, St. Johns, St. Mary's Ryken, and Pallotti also performed at this years festival. Each of the BMHS Bands performed to a packed house and received wonderful support from parents, family, and friends. Thank you to all who attended.

Concert Band and Symphonic Band received an overall rating of "Excellent" from the judges, while Wind Ensemble took home all "Superior" Ratings for the second year in a row.

One aspect of competition for each band is sightreading. Each band is presented with a piece of music they have never seen before, given less then 5 minutes to study it, and then graded on how well they perform the piece on their first try. All three McNamara bands received "Superior" in this portion of the adjudication. Wind Ensemble was told by the judge. . . "This Band gave the most confident and successful sightreading performance of the day, Congratulations"

Congratulations to all three Mustang Bands as well as their directors, Mr. Conto and Mr. Pendley.
