Dorothy Day Service Program
An integral part of the life of our McNamara students is the Dorothy Day Christian Service Program. As a school community we look to our students to live as Christ did, "feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, offering hospitality to the homeless, caring for the sick, and visiting the imprisoned."
With this as our premise, our students are assigned a minimum number of community service hours to complete each year. Freshmen are required to complete 15 service hours, Sophomores are asked to perform 20 service hours, Juniors must complete 40 service hours and Seniors are required to complete a community service project. Throughout the school year there are a variety of school sponsored community service opportunities such as soup kitchens, food runs, and tutoring. |
