Mustangs Moving
In the Fine Arts Community
Since its inception in 1997, the Bishop McNamara dance program has been preparing our student dancers to go out beyond the walls of our school to make their mark in the world of entertainment. And over the years graduates from our school have found themselves on stages in Washington, New York, Philadelphia, and all across the country.
This year's dancers are no exception. In fact, this year has indeed been a remarkable year for our students. On April 17th Bishop McNamara faculty member Vicki Warren was the Associate Choreographer and a featured soloist at the Kennedy Center’s 13th Annual Gala. Five of our students, Jerrel Johnson, ’04, Michelle Menna, ’05, Marc-Keegan Murphy, ’05, Terra Turner, ’05, and Martinez Baker, ’06, shared the spotlight in the ensemble. Additionally, faculty member Victor Bah, who teaches our African Dance and Drum Class, accompanied the dancers on the drums during the Gala. Our faculty and students shared the stage with Julie Andrews, Marvin Hamlisch, Barbara Cook, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and other international performers.
On April 29th Madalynne Wills ’06 and faculty member Vicki Warren were featured guests artists at An Evening with Jason Brown, on the main stage at the Chesapeake Arts Center.
The students in all of McNamara’s dance classes also had a chance to showcase their talents for the school community on April 15 and 16 on the BMHS Fine Arts and Athletic Center Stage at the annual dance review.
Congratulations to all the dancers on a job well done. The Bishop McNamara school community is proud of all of your accomplishments and wishes you success as you dance into your future endeavors.
